Attempt any four questions from Section BQ2) Prove that the average velocity is equal to 0.667 times jthe maximum velocity between parallel plates in Laminar flow condition.
Q3) Explain the phenomenon of hydrodynamically smooth and rough boundaries.
Q4) Find the ration of skin friction drag on the front two-third and rear one-third of a flat plate kept in a uniform stream at Zero incidence. Assume the boundary layer to be turbulent over the entire plate.
Q5) The wing of an aeroplane is designed to develop a lift of 5X10^4N. If the span is 10.5 m and the mean chord is 1.8m, calculate the total drag at a speed of 400km per hour. Assume elliptical lift distribution. Density=1.207 kg/meter cube and profile drag is 0.012.
Q6) Prove that in a uniform flow condition in open channel Zo=YRSo where Y=gama=specific weight of water, R= Hydraulic radius, So= bed slope and Zo= Bed shear stress.

(2X10=20)
Attempt any two questions from section CQ7) Derive an expression of Dynamic equation of Gradually Varied Flow.
Q8) (a) In a rectangular channel 3.5m wide laid at a slope of 0.0036, uniform flow occurs at a depth of 2m, find how high can the hump be raised without causing afflux. Take Manning's N equal to 0.015.
(b) Prove that specific energy is equal to 1.5 times critical depth in a rectangular channel.
Q9) (a) For a hydraulic jump in a rectangular channel the velocity and depth after the jump are known to be 0.80m/s and 1.75m respectively. Calculate the depth before the jump, the energy loss and the power dissipated per meter width.
(b) Discuss the various elements of hydraulic jump in a rectangular channel. Mention its practical application in the field.
